Renesas SRAM EOL 2026: 92 Part Numbers, the 30 November LTB and Their Replacements

Renesas End of Life Notice EOL260016, issued on 1 June 2026, discontinues 92 orderable codes of its asynchronous SRAM, from 256 Kbit to 64 Mbit, in both the low-power (R1LP, R1LV, RMLV, RMWV) and the fast (R1RP, R1RW) families. The reason Renesas gives is equipment aging in the wafer process. The final last time buy (LTB) date is 30 November 2026, the last shipment date is 31 December 2028, and every order shipped between those two dates is non-cancelable and non-returnable (NCNR). Renesas names an Infineon (ex-Cypress) or Alliance Memory replacement for 78 of the codes and "None" for the other 14.

As of 21 October 2026 that leaves about 40 days to decide on each affected line. The notice itself is a four-page PDF on renesas.com. This page turns its part list into a family lookup, flags the codes that have no replacement, and covers the one trap the notice does not mention.

Which Renesas SRAM families are affected: the lookup table

The notice covers 33 base part numbers in 17 families. Each family below is listed with the replacement Renesas itself names in the notice's attached list. Density and organization follow from the part number (0416 = 4 Mbit, 256K x 16). The voltage class follows from the prefix: R1LP and R1RP are 5 V parts, while R1LV, RMLV and R1RW are 3 V parts. The replacement column agrees, mapping 5 V parts to Infineon 5 V codes and 3 V parts to Infineon "V30" or "G30" codes.

The tray and reel versions of each part have separate codes. Renesas's 2025 package document lists the #B1, #AA and #CA codes as tray and the #S1, #HA and #KA codes as tape and reel. The notice maps reel codes, including the BGA #KC codes, to Infineon codes ending in "T", so order the replacement in the same packing as the code you run today. The part number suffix decoder explains how packing and temperature suffixes work across manufacturers.

The 14 codes with no replacement: SD and WT packages first

For 14 of the 92 codes, the notice's replacement column says "None". Ten of them are in two packages: every SD-package code in the RMLV0816B, RMLV1616A, RMLV3216A and RMWV6416A families (8 codes), plus both RMLV0416EGWT-7S2 codes. The other four are single variants inside families that otherwise have a replacement: R1LV0108ESA-5SI#BJ, R1LV0208BSA-5SI#BK and #SK, and R1RW0416DSB-2UR#D1.

If your BOM uses one of these, the decision is narrower than for the rest of the list. You can place an LTB for the rest of the product's life. You can redesign the board to a package that has an Infineon equivalent. Or you can source surplus after 2028 and accept counterfeit and date-code risk. For a fixed-design industrial or medical product that is still selling, the LTB is usually the cheapest of the three, because a layout change also reopens qualification.

The double hop: parts that were themselves the 2025 replacement

Five base part numbers now in EOL260016 were Renesas's own recommended alternatives only seven months earlier. On 1 November 2025, Renesas document CST-R2-AE379, the EOL plan for select packages of low power SRAMs, retired the 32-pin TSOP-I and TSOP-II versions of the 1 Mbit and 4 Mbit low-power SRAMs. It set an LTB of 30 April 2026 and a last shipment of 31 October 2026. Buyers were directed to:

  • R1LP0108ESA and R1LV0108ESA in 32-pin sTSOP (8 x 13.4 mm), a layout change with a 33% smaller footprint.
  • R1LP0408DSP and RMLV0408EGSP in 32-pin SOP (20.75 x 14.10 mm), with a thicker 3.05 mm body.
  • RMLV0408EGSA in 32-pin sTSOP, with the lead pitch reduced from 1.27 mm to 0.5 mm.

All five alternatives are now on the EOL260016 list. A design team that relaid its board for the sTSOP or SOP package in early 2026 now faces a second migration on the same socket. Before you change another layout, check two things. Is the Infineon replacement in the package you just moved to? And does that same 2025 document list an ISSI cross as well? For example, for the retired R1LV0108ESF it names IS62WV1288FBLL-45TLI.

What the notice gets wrong: errata to catch before the PO

The replacement column is a reference list, not a set of verified ordering codes, and it contains slips that will bounce a purchase order:

  • RMWV6416AGBG-5S2#KC0 is a tape-and-reel code, but it maps to CY62187G30-55BAXI, the same tray code given for #AC0. The reel version should carry Infineon's trailing T.
  • R1LV0216BSB-5SI#B1 maps to "CY62137FV30LL-45ZSXII", with a doubled I that will not match an orderable code.
  • RMLV0414E and RMLV0416E map to two codes one digit apart, CY62147G30-45ZSXI and CY621472G30-45ZSXI. Check the datasheet pin table before you treat them as interchangeable.
  • Alliance's AS6C62256-55 is named for both the 3 V and the 5 V 256 Kbit parts, so confirm its operating range covers your rail.

A Renesas-named replacement is also not a guarantee of a drop-in fit. Infineon's G-generation fast SRAMs such as the CY7C1041G30 include on-chip error correction (ECC), and the low-power parts come from a different process, so standby current and data-retention voltage need checking on battery-backed designs. Our electronic component cross-reference guide lists the seven checks that catch a false match before you sign off an alternate.

Worked example: LTB quantity for an RMLV0416EGSB line

Take an illustrative case. A German controller manufacturer builds 1,800 units a year with RMLV0416EGSB-4S2#AA1 (4 Mbit, 44-pin TSOP-II, tray) and must support the product until the end of 2031. Its LTB calculation for the 30 November 2026 deadline looks like this:

  • Demand from December 2026 to December 2031: 5 years x 1,800 = 9,000 pcs.
  • Field repair spares at 3%: 270 pcs.
  • Assembly and handling loss at 2%: 180 pcs.
  • LTB order: 9,450 pcs, rounded up to full trays, with deliveries scheduled in 2027 and 2028 so the last lot lands before the 31 December 2028 last shipment.

Because the order is NCNR from the moment Renesas accepts it, overbuying is a sunk cost. The common middle path is to buy two years of demand (about 3,800 pcs with losses) and qualify CY621472G30-45ZSXI in parallel. Stored stock also ages, so set the storage conditions and date-code limits before the reels arrive. The shelf life and date code guide covers storage limits and the date-code wording to put in the purchase order. The general method behind this calculation is in our last time buy strategy post.

Replacement candidates in GlobX stock

As of October 2026, two SRAMs in GlobX's European stock match affected Renesas families by density, organization, speed and package. Both still need datasheet sign-off against your design.

  • Infineon (Cypress) CY62147EV30LL-45BVXIT: 4 Mbit, 256K x 16, 45 ns, 2.2-3.6 V, 48-ball VFBGA, tape and reel, 5,000 pcs, date code 22+. Infineon lists it as active and preferred. It is the previous-generation part to the CY62147G30 that Renesas names for RMLV0416EGBG-4S2#KC0, with the same density and speed. Confirm the ball map and chip-enable configuration before you treat it as a drop-in.
  • ISSI IS61WV25616BLL-10TLI: 4 Mbit, 256K x 16, 10 ns, 2.4-3.6 V, 44-pin TSOP-II, -40 to 85 C, 5,000 pcs, date code 23+, active. It covers the same organization, speed and package as the 3 V R1RW0416DSB fast SRAM. Renesas names CY7C1041G30-10ZSXI, so treat ISSI as a second source to qualify, not as the official cross.

If you are already past the LTB, or your code is one of the 14 without a replacement, independent stock is the remaining source after 2028. Buy it with traceability and inspection; the PCN and EOL notice guide explains how to track the next notice before it reaches your BOM.

What to send us before 30 November

Send the exact Renesas codes from your BOM, including the # suffix, with annual volume and the year support ends. We will tell you which ones fall under EOL260016, which have a stocked Infineon or ISSI candidate, and what a split LTB plus alternate plan would cost. Lines with no replacement go to the top of the list, because they have only one deadline left.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I check whether my Renesas SRAM is in EOL260016?

Match the full orderable code, including the # suffix, against the part list attached to the notice. Renesas states that no other variation is impacted, so a code differing in speed grade, package or packing suffix is unaffected unless it has its own line. The June 2026 list holds 92 codes.

What does NCNR mean for orders between the LTB and last shipment?

NCNR means non-cancelable and non-returnable. Under EOL260016, any order Renesas ships between the 30 November 2026 LTB and the 31 December 2028 last shipment cannot be cancelled, rescheduled out or returned. Size the order on committed demand plus a small spares margin, because surplus becomes your inventory risk.

What happens if I miss the 30 November 2026 last time buy date?

Renesas will not process new orders after that date. What remains is stock already in the franchised channel, which sells out without replenishment, then independent stock that should be bought with traceability and AS6081-style inspection, or a redesign to the named Infineon or Alliance part. Missing the date usually raises unit cost.

Can a pseudo-SRAM (pSRAM) replace a Renesas low-power SRAM?

Only in some designs. A pSRAM uses DRAM cells with internal refresh, so it is denser and cheaper per bit but draws more standby current and adds refresh timing limits. Rule out pSRAM wherever the SRAM holds data on a backup battery, which is a common job for these Renesas low-power parts.

Does an Infineon SRAM with ECC behave differently from the Renesas part?

Not at the interface. On parts such as the CY7C1041G30-10ZSXI, error correction runs inside the chip, so firmware still sees a 256K x 16 array at 10 ns access time. Recheck the operating and standby current tables and the data-retention figures against your power budget before you approve it.
