Diodes Incorporated is discontinuing 31 discrete and analog part numbers under PCN-2838, including the BS170P, BS250P, ZVN4206A and ZVP2106A small-signal MOSFETs in the TO-92 compatible E-Line package. The notice was issued on 6 July 2026. The last order date is 6 January 2027 and the last ship date is 6 July 2027, subject to availability. Twenty-nine of the 31 codes have no recommended Diodes replacement. As of 2 November 2026, buyers have 65 calendar days to place a lifetime buy, and the Christmas shutdown falls inside that window.
This notice follows PCN-2824, which ended 207 Zetex codes on 28 October 2026. PCN-2824 covered the taped ZVN4206ASTZ and ZVN4206AV variants but left the base ZVN4206A as NRND. PCN-2838 removes the base code too, so every ZVN4206A ordering code is now on a dated end-of-life path.
The 31 part numbers on PCN-2838, sorted by what replaces them
The parts that matter most to buyers are the eight E-Line MOSFETs. The table below lists every family on the notice, its key rating from the Diodes datasheet, and the realistic path once stock runs out. Replacement statuses are as of November 2026.
| EOL part (Diodes) | Key datasheet rating | PCN replacement | Realistic path |
|---|---|---|---|
| BS170P, BS170PSTZ | N-channel, 60 V, 270 mA, RDS(on) 5 Ω max at 10 V, AEC-Q101 | None | onsemi BS170 (Active), after pinout and qualification checks |
| BS250P | P-channel, -45 V, -230 mA, RDS(on) 14 Ω | None | Microchip VP2106N3-G (60 V, 250 mA, TO-92) |

Only the two ZMR regulators have a clean exit. The AP7375Q is an automotive-compliant LDO with a 45 V input range, 300 mA output and 2.1 µA quiescent current, which is a different class of part from the ZMR. Treat it as a new component on your BOM, with its own footprint check, rather than a pin-for-pin swap.
Which BS170 is on your bill of materials?
Only the Diodes BS170P and BS170PSTZ are discontinued. The onsemi BS170 continues: as of November 2026, onsemi's product page lists BS170, BS170-D26Z and BS170-D27Z as Active. The same page shows BS170-D75Z on Last Shipments, and BS170G and BS170RLRAG as Obsolete. "BS170" on a BOM line is a family name, not an orderable part. The status depends on the manufacturer prefix and the suffix.
The two parts sharing that name are not identical on paper either. The Diodes BS170P datasheet rates the part at 270 mA continuous drain current and 625 mW dissipation, and states AEC-Q101 qualification. onsemi rates its BS170 at 500 mA. Moving from the Diodes part to the onsemi part gives you more current headroom, so electrical margin is rarely the problem. The problems are paperwork and pinout.
- Qualification: if the BS170P sits in a module built under a PPAP, the AEC-Q101 line on its datasheet was part of the approval. Ask for the replacement's qualification evidence in writing before you release it. Our AEC-Q100 vs AEC-Q101 guide explains what that evidence should include.
- Pinout: repair forums carry recurring threads asking whether "BS170s are all the same" and whether a 2N7000 can stand in for one. The answer depends on the datasheet in front of you. On most makers' datasheets the 2N7000 and BS170 use different pin orders, and buyers report that BS170s from different makers do not always share one. Put the substitute's datasheet pin drawing next to your PCB footprint before you approve the swap.
The P-channel side has the fewest options
The BS250P and ZVP2106A are the parts most likely to strand a design, because PCN-2838 removes the classic TO-92 P-channel complements to the BS170 in one notice. Diodes lists no replacement for either. Through-hole P-channel MOSFETs at 45 V to 60 V are now a short list. Microchip's VP2106N3-G (60 V, 250 mA, TO-92-3) is one of the few still listed as Active by major distributors as of November 2026.
The gate threshold is the parameter to check before you approve a P-channel substitute. The ZVP2106A datasheet specifies VGS(th) between -1.5 V and -3.5 V, and the BS250P specifies -1 V to -3.5 V. If your circuit pulls the gate only 5 V below the source, the original parts have 1.5 V of margin over their worst-case threshold. A substitute with a larger worst-case threshold eats that margin and can leave the switch only partly on. Compare the maximum threshold on both datasheets, not the typical value.
Worked example: sizing a BS170P lifetime buy
A German maker of industrial control boards uses 12,000 BS170P a year in a product it must support until the end of 2031. That is five years of demand after the 2027 last ship date. Here is how the order builds up:
- Base demand: 12,000 pieces x 5 years = 60,000 pieces.
- Repair and scrap allowance: add 10% for field repairs and production scrap, which gives 66,000 pieces.
- Round to the pack: the datasheet lists BS170P at 4,000 pieces loose per box and BS170PSTZ at 2,000 pieces per ammo box. For the loose version, 66,000 / 4,000 = 16.5, so you order 17 boxes (68,000 pieces). For the ammo version, 66,000 / 2,000 = 33 boxes, which is exactly 66,000 pieces.
- Storage: five years in a warehouse is longer than most incoming-inspection rules assume. Agree on a date-code acceptance rule and dry storage conditions before the parts arrive.
The pack sizes are the practitioner trap. Ordering the loose BS170P forces 2,000 extra pieces, while the taped STZ version lands exactly on the forecast. Our MOQ vs SPQ guide covers how pack rounding works, and the last time buy strategy guide covers forecasting when the end-of-support date is uncertain.
Redesigning to SMD: what our stock shows
For boards in active development, the durable fix is to move the switch to a SOT-23 MOSFET and stop depending on through-hole small-signal parts. The 2N7002 is the usual SMD counterpart of the 2N7000 family. Most 2N7002 datasheets rate it in the low hundreds of milliamps, so it suits BS170P and 2N7000 sockets in signal switching, not ZVN4206A sockets that carry 600 mA loads. GlobX holds 450,000 pieces of the Panjit 2N7002_R1_00001 in SOT-23-3, date code 22+, factory sealed, in stock in Germany, with part status Active, as of November 2026.
A layout change means a new footprint, a new assembly program and, for regulated products, a change notice to your own customers. That work usually takes longer than the 65 days left before 6 January 2027. The common plan is a lifetime buy that covers the build quantity until the SMD revision is released. The SOT-23 part then covers everything after that.
What to do with each of the 65 days left
Lifetime-buy volumes are decided by the last order date, so a plan that starts in December is already late. A practical schedule is:
- November, week 1: search your ERP and approved vendor list for all 31 codes, including the STZ, TA and QTA suffixes. Search by full code, not by family name.
- November, weeks 2 and 3: sort each hit into "move to onsemi BS170 or VP2106N3-G", "switch to AP7375Q", or "lifetime buy". Ask engineering to approve the substitutes in writing.
- By 4 December: place lifetime-buy orders. This leaves a margin for distributor confirmation before the Christmas and New Year shutdowns.
- After 6 January 2027: treat any further demand as broker demand. That means traceable stock only, with testing to the levels in our obsolete components sourcing service.
Have a BOM line with BS170P, BS250P, ZVN4206A or any other PCN-2838 code on it? Send us the part numbers and annual quantities. We will check them against our German inventory and confirm the replacement status of each code before your last order date passes.
